The fifty six page, 8.5 x 8.5 inch edition is illustrated with color etchings by the late Romanian artist Traian Alexandru Filip, whose powerful, emotionally charged works grace many international museums, including the Vatican. The introductory note to this edition is written by the well-known poet Nina Cassian. The translator's note addresses the specific intentions of the English version by its author. The edition is distributed solely by 'Prospero Press' of Needham, MA.

Traian Alexandru Filip
(1955-1993)
Born in Bucharest, Romania, Traian Alexandru Filip took his Master's degree from the 'Ioan Grigorescu' Institute of Fine Arts. As a painter, etcher and sculptor, he held one-man shows in Romania, Italy, Sweden and the United States and took part in several dozens of national and international group exhibitions. Of his numerous awards, we mention the National Union of Fine Arts Award (Romania), the UNICEF Award for Graphic Art and the Silver Medal of The Society of Illustrators (USA). His works have been acquired for museum and private collections in Romania, the United States, Japan and Europe, including the Vatican. From 1989 to his tragic and premature death he lived and worked in the United States.

Adrian G. Sahlean
Born in Romania, Adrian George Sahlean holds a Master's Degree in English and Spanish philology (Bucharest, 1975) and psychoanalysis (Boston, 1995). A certified psychoanalyst (2002), he is currently finishing his doctoral degree. Mr. Sahlean is a published author of three volumes of poetry translations into English and of essays on literary translation. His meter-and-rhyme renditions of the 19-th century Romanian ‘national’ poet Mihai Eminescu (UNESCO Year-2000-Poet-Of-The-Year) brought him the 'Eminescu' Gold Medal and inclusion into the prestigious Romanian Writer's Union. Adrian George Sahlean has been a member of ‘LiterArt XXI’ (the Int. Assoc. of Romanian Writers and Artists) since 1997, and member of the ‘Romanian Union of Physician Writers and Journalists’, since 1999.

A G Sahlean in the co-founder and president of Global Arts (2005) (www.globalartsnpo.org), a non-profit organization promoting Romanian literature, art and music to the American public at large.

Past and present activities include: Radio-TV professional children's choir; founder of a-cappella group; national basketball league player; college tennis player; part-time actor with repertory company; second prize at national classical guitar festival; Boston marathon; US professional tennis coach;bel-canto singing.
